The Lads Lunch. Ohh Aah, Paul McGrath!

Paul McGrath, the Ireland soccer legend, will be coming to the Bridge House hotel, Tullamore. Paul will be appearing as part of the Tullamore Lions Club "Lads Lunch", the very superstitious lads lunch which takes place on Friday 13th of April.

McGrath is widely recognised as one of the greatest players to have ever come out of Ireland. He played 14 professional seasons with Aston Villa and Manchester United (seven apiece). A tough tackler, he played extensively despite the poor condition of his knees. Also a long-time member of the Republic of Ireland national team, he appeared at the 1990 and 1994 FIFA World Cups, as well as UEFA Euro 1988, the team's first-ever international tournament.

Paul will meet guests as they arrive for a night packed with entertainment. At 6 pm the very superstitious lads lunch kicks off. The night begins in the foyer of the Bridge House Hotel, with live music and entertainment. Samples of food from the newly opened "Balcone Italiano" authentic Italian restaurant will whet the appetites. From there guests will be brought from the hotel bar to the function room where MC Michael Duignan will host proceedings.The executive Chef Patrick Kennedy will lay on a very special Steak Dinner. A Recession Buster Auction takes place in the capable hands of Paddy Dunican, and bargains are guaranteed on the night!

Comedian and impressionist Alan Shortt, who left a lasting impression at last years Lads Lunch, will be appearing between courses and is expected to Bring an alter ego or two! An after dinner interview will be held with Paul and Michael and if anyone feels they are fit to carry on Free entry to The Palace Niteclub is also included!

The main beneficiaries on the night are two very worthy local needs. The Resource Center in the Tullamore, under the banner of Offaly ID, the Offaly Association for People with Intellectual Disability, and the Offaly School of Special Education in Kilcruttin. Both facilities provide education and training at a county wide level and are providing crucial roles in the community.

The tickets are priced at €60 and are promised to deliver terrific value and support local needs.
